PSI Specialty Epoxy Putty Sticks

Hand-mixable two-component epoxy putties formulated for maximum strength, durability, chemical resistance and ease of application. Nine grades — one for every industrial repair scenario. Cures in minutes. Machinable, drillable, tappable, paintable.

PSI epoxy putty sticks

What they are

PSI's specialty epoxy putty sticks, tapes, bars, industrial pastes and potting compounds offer a wide range of easy-to-use epoxies for industrial maintenance and DIY use. Each grade is formulated to deliver optimum performance in a specific type of application.

Some grades are fast-cure for quick, strong emergency repairs; others are slower-curing for reconstruction, moulding and sculpting. Some carry NSF Standard 61 certification for drinking-water contact. All are user-friendly, low-hazard products for tough, permanent repairs — with excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals and solvents.

Use for: hydrocarbons, ketones, alcohols, halocarbons, aqueous salt solutions, dilute acids, bases and more. Once cured, every grade can be machined, drilled, tapped, ground, filed or painted.

Typical uses

  • Emergency leak-plugging on tanks and pipes
  • Rebuilding worn pump casings, shafts and keyways
  • Filling cracks and holes in concrete and masonry
  • Underwater and damp-surface repairs
  • Anchoring bolts and fittings
  • Reinforcing corroded or fractured metal
  • Food-grade and drinking-water applications (select grades)

The nine PSI grades

Choose by substrate and application. All grades mix 1:1 by hand, stick to wet or dry surfaces and are fully cured in under an hour.

Fast Steel®

Steel-reinforced, hand-mixable, non-rusting epoxy putty. For emergency steel repairs — tanks, pipes, castings, threaded fittings.

Cure: ~3–5 min · Paintable · Machinable

How to apply

  1. STEP 1

    Prep

Clean the area. Remove oil, paint and rust. Surface can be dry, wet, or even underwater (grade-dependent).

  2. STEP 2

    Cut & mix

Cut off the required amount of stick. Knead by hand for ~30 seconds until one uniform colour.

  3. STEP 3

    Apply

Press firmly into the repair, shape with wet fingers. Use within the working time.

  4. STEP 4

    Finish

Once cured, machine, drill, tap, sand, file or paint as required.

Chemical resistance summary

Cured PSI epoxy putties are highly resistant to corrosion and deterioration by dilute acids and caustics, and withstand exposure to mildly acidic water. The guide below summarises typical behaviour — for your specific chemical and temperature, download the full chemical-resistance chart or contact us.

No / minor effect

Alcohols (methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, butyl), antifreeze, cellosolves, saturated chlorinated solvents, esters (e.g. amyl acetate), greases, lacquers, methylene chloride, mineral spirits, naphtha, natural oils (linseed, olive, palm), diesel, fuel oil, gasoline, jet fuel, lubricating oil, silicone oil, shellac, toluene, trichloroethane, turpentine, xylene.

Moderate / severe (hot or concentrated)

Acetone, hot esters, MEK, bromine, hot caustic potash, chlorine, chromate solutions, hot hydrogen peroxide, concentrated or hot hypochlorite bleach, oxidising agents, sodium peroxide, oleum, plating solutions, hot/concentrated acetic, aqua regia, carbolic, muriatic, nitric, sulfuric acids.

Safe at normal temperature

Dilute chlorine bleach, caustic potash, hydrogen peroxide, salt solutions (alum, calcium chloride, salt), soap solutions, dilute acetic / muriatic / nitric acids, lard, water.
